Thanks to everyone for trying to help. Chris suggested I try J8. Unfortunately after downloading this and unzipping it in my Applications folder, jqt801 declines to run. It appears like it's about to start (the icon appears briefly) but then nothing happens. Based on a Google search I checked profile.ijs to see if anything looked obviously wrong there. I didn't see anything, but I'm new to this.
Chris and Bill also suggested defining certain terms before running viewmat. I tried that in J7 with no success.
