'Left' would be helpful if there were only one-dimensional arrays. 
'Up' in a matrix is confusing because up on the screen is were the index goes 
down.

But 'back' is already helpful to me. I never remembered which was the positive 
direction, but now I won't forget it anymore. 'Backwards' I would say, like in 
counting backwards (but I'm not a native speaker of English).

Adding 'Up' or 'Left' or 'Back' to 'Rotate' is not really helpful. Examples 
does the trick.
