Once again now, but with J807, I tried unsuccessfully to follow the installation instructions at
https://github.com/martin-saurer/jkernel <https://github.com/martin-saurer/jkernel> so as to be able to run J within Jupyter notebooks under macOS (10.13.6). Note that the current Anaconda distribution uses python 3.6 rather than 3.5. After completing all the installation steps for Martin Saurer’s “jkernel” package (including editing the qjide.cfg file that comes with it), when I execute command “jupyter notebook” to start the Jupyter server and it opens the Jupyter client in Safari browser, I then open there from ~/j64-807-user/Jupyter_Notebook_J_Examples one of Saurer’s .ipynb files. At first I see the “Kernel starting, please wait…” message, a brief “Connect”, and then a pop-up window “Dead kernel The kernel has died, and the automatic restart has failed….” Clicking the “Try Restarting Now” button just results in the same dead kernel situation.
