Conservation of resources, to be useful, should be applied at the
resource bottlenecks. Otherwise the conservation efforts tend to make
the problem(s) worse.

Conservation also tends to force you to deal with ugly issues (though,
once you get past that, the result might be beautiful, in some
fashion).
