Personally, I have j807, j901, j902 and j903 installed on this
machine. It's a minor inconvenience to have different user directories
for each version -- I would prefer to have a common user directory
instead of a bunch of little ones (that would also encourage me to be
more version aware in my code).

But, anyways... other than that, I don't see any big downsides to
having multiple versions of J on the same machine. And, particularly
in the early stages of the release of a new version, I think it makes
a lot of sense to keep a stable version around.
