Some redundancy is a good thing, I think -- over time, messages get lost or become difficult to find, and people tend to rely on redundancy to help cope with that issue.
Too much, of course, would be annoying, and drown out other content. But that just requires some good judgement. And, that hasn't happened yet, here.
