Hi everyone,

First, thank you to Eric, Chris and Henry for asking me to take on this role.
Over the last few weeks, I have seen discussions about the state of the wiki
naturally emerge on the forums and so the time seems ripe to approach this
challenge in a coordinated fashion. This is not a task that I can take on alone
and I have to acknowledge the amazing contributions that have already been made
to the wiki by Chris Burke in migrating the original documents to a wiki
format, Ian Clark and Henry Rich and the many others who have contributed to
Nuvoc, and to Roger Hui for the excellent contributions he made through the
years in the essays section. These are just a few of the people who have kept
the wiki going over the years, but just as important are the people who stepped
up and clarified that one detail about a little used adverb or included some
details about the way that they were using J. If you have contributed to the
wiki in the past thank you and if you have not, there will be lots of
opportunities going forward.

The current state of the wiki feels to me like a mansion that is need of
maintenance. It still has a wonderful location, a classic look and some amazing
facilities, but there are also rooms that have not been updated (some of which
are rarely visited and may need to be removed to provide access to other
areas). In addition, while we are cleaning things up, we may be able to build a
few new wings to make it more attractive to visitors. If you really wanted to
get excited about it, you could say that we have inherited a theme park that
will not only educate but will also engage newcomers and could become a
destination resort for those who are interested in j.

We are at a time when interest in the array languages is growing and so an
updated wiki will be a real benefit to the whole community. If you are
interested in being part of this process let me know, either through the
general forum ([email protected]) or emailing me directly at
[email protected]. My plan over the next week is to gauge the interest and
start to organize the approach we will take. If you are interested in being a
part of that vision then please get in touch with me. Wiki's are not a one
person adventure. If planning the project is not for you right now, get
involved when you can. There will also be opportunities down the road for
curators who may be interested in a specific area of the J wiki and, as always,
contributions from the community are encouraged. We will be providing weekly
updates here on the programming forum to keep everyone up to date.

Stay tuned as we move forward together and please share any thoughts that you
have either by direct email to me or through the general forum for that is the
place where the wiki will be discussed.

Cheers, bob
