I currently count 2087 pages in the "Main" namespace. (I saw 6 full
pages at https://code.jsoftware.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Special:AllPages
with 345 href= references to pages in the Main namespace, and a
seventh page with 17 such references.)

Which is pretty close to your number (which also includes other kinds of pages).

Thanks,
