The ... in the latest instructions indicate 'a path of your choosing'.
The later ... indicates to use that same path again. In your case the
... is temp. The critical step you seem to have missed is the cd ~ which
puts you in your home directory so the the unpack is to j601 in your
home directory.

directory 'temp' which I have been following even though
your announcement did not. Consequently the new beta did NOT
