[Jprogramming] viewmat without a new window

How can I stop viewmat from opening a new window?
I would like viewmat to use the previously opened window (without resizing
the latter).
In short the ideal would be a viewmat command that displays in the plot
window with the same "domain and range display" to the left and on the
bottom.
