It's more than frustrating.  My task has three main parts: create a
simulation file to run, run it, and plot some graphs.  I'm guessing I
did the creating the simulation file part in less time than I've spent
so far on trying to run it (which was going to be 1 line).

Yes, that hurt me for quite a while and may still be hurting me.

I think I'll go on to finishing up the plotting part and then come back
to this.  Perhaps I'll have had some insights by then; perhaps someone
will have seen something I haven't seen and post it (e.g., why the bash
verb didn't work for me), or perhaps I'll do some sort of glue .bat
file.  I just hate to add files when they don't seem as if they should
be necessary.

Thanks for your help.  I'll let everyone know if I discover the magic
incantation; feel free to let me know if you get sudden insight into
what my problem might be.
