[Jprogramming] How many characters in my name?

Now I am confused.  How should I handle sgtrings in J6? For example 
In my name there are two a-umlauts: 11th and 13th character "ä".

In J5
   #'Anssi Seppälä'
13
in J6
   #'Anssi Seppälä'
15
'Anssi Seppälä' i. 'ä'
10 11

It seems that 'ä' is two elements. Is there experience how this 
affects to the applications upgrading from j5 to j6?
