This is absolutely not a big issue for me at all. I was just wondering if it were at all possible to do so.
I do all my work in scripts anyway so it never takes me long to restart. 2007/3/21, Dan Bron <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
>My question is if it is possible to get to that stage without restarting J? This depends on the specific problem. Tracking down the conflict can be a frustrating and time consuming endeavor. Usually it's fastest and easiest to restart J. The question is: why do you balk at doing so? It's not like J has a extensive boot time. Do you want to retain your input log? Your IJX history? Certain specific names/definitions? The layout of your windows? If so, you have some work to do. Anyway, this question comes up periodically on the Forums. Please see: Oleg demonstrates how to use J to restart J in one line: http://www.jsoftware.com/pipermail/programming/2006-October/003606.html Roger's notes on which parameters need be reset, and states that strictly resetting J is not possible: http://www.jsoftware.com/pipermail/programming/2006-October/003598.html Devon's workspace script, which will allow you to persist selected names to disk, that they may be reloaded in a fresh J session: http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/Scripts/File_J_Variables I'll consider writing up a Guide on this. -Dan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
