Perhaps a rephrase: I get the same number of occurrences of drawing an
A5 sheet from the container/pile/bucket: 8. Of course, I understand
that one ends up with 16 A5's at the end.

As long as we're confessing our Project Euler frustrations, for #151. I
only seem to get the same number of A5 sheets for all possible ways of
cutting. Can some one show me two ways of cutting that result in
different numbers of A5's? My theory is that I'm misreading the
question somehow. Perhaps the examples will show me how I'm misreading.
All ways of cutting ultimately result in the 16 sheets of A5 paper needed
for the 16 jobs (NB. job=batch, possibly confusingly). I suspect that you
are ignoring the phrase "At the beginning of each subsequent batch".
Best wishes,
