First: is very difficult to understand your prose. I do not know if this is due to your unique style, or a difference in our respective expectations, but it doesn't matter. The result is that usually I can get the gist of your message, and no more. That said: the only difference in > _type_ (programming language) of element is rank. Boxes envelop that difference, and all others wrt nouns, producing a homogeneous array. That is their purpose. If you don't like that, you should lobby for the deprecation of boxes, not the sequential machine pattern.
