Some of the questions that I have following up to your answers are: 1. Is there an equivalent of MAXWS in Dyalog APL in J?
No, but understand that MAXWS is a limitation that is largely a hangover from the days when the APL interpreter grabbed a block of RAM at outset and kept that for its own use until APL was terminated. Dyalog still does that, except that it will only request from Windows RAM that it currently needs, and will return memory freed up by using []WA. Once a session is loaded, then MAXWS cannot be changed for that session.
J is like most other programs in that it simply requests from Windows memory that it needs. No maximum size need be (or can be) specified at outset.
2. Are there any examples of C# interaction with J?
Yes, see the wiki, http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/Interfaces . My experience is that C# works well with a J server.
3. Can one produce word documents from J. From what I see in Publish, it seems mainly for PDF output reports. I guess one could easily generate HTML output and rely on the MS WORD HTML processor to get the equivalent Word files. Correct?
It is some time since I experimented with driving Word from J. I don't see why you cannot still do this, but I don't think Word is a good output medium. PDF is much better - more portable, more secure.
4. Is the NYCJUG forum open to rank newbies like me :)
Yes, it certainly is. Chris ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
