I consider my iPod Touch a replacement for a laptop. Haven't turned on my laptop in months.... The iPod has a very nice mail client (Apple Mail), Safari browser (you can even sync bookmarks from your desktop), and special interfaces to Google maps (very handy), comprehensive weather sites, stock quotes, and youtube.com - makes it quite entertaining. It is the iPhone without the phone function (so is 1/2 as thick) and camera (don't know why they left out the camera...)

The only thing it is missing is j ... :(

However, I expect soon to be able to install the excellent Terminal program from other OS X systems as the programming environment has been opened and a comprehensive developers kit is free from Apple (but does require running on a Mac...) With a terminal, I can handily access j if I'm in a WiFi hot spot (and many places are these days). As you can tell, I am an enthusiast - and I haven't even mentioned all the music, photo library, movies and great (video) podcasts. Nor the very nice calendar, notes, and address book facilities....
