When compared to a web browser, it gives about 
the same or up to 2 times slower time, which is not very bad.


Pumping data (140k) takes a significant part of time
compared to sending request--up to first byte received.
So the process may benefit if only the head (up to known
length) is taken and then reading interrupted. 
This will need an enhancement to the code.
