.mp3 files are related to .wav files somewhat like the way .jpg files are
related to .png files.

A google search for "convert mp3 to wav" seems to turn up many
possibilities, but I have not tested any of them and can not make
any recommendations.

Currently, J's support for audio playback is limited.  We have windows
specific support (media/wav in the j application library), but no support
for a generic mechanism such as
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_DirectMedia_Layer

However, if you feel like tackling such a project, and need help,
just ask.  Many of us can contribute even if we do not currently
have the time or initiative to tackle the project ourselves.
