I've tried a number of variations on using "wd 'msgs'" with no success.
I've also noticed that playing around with this will eventually start
messing up my J session: response to a line of input will defer until the
following "Enter" and spurious form feeds (12{a.) will start popping up in
my Jconsole session (under emacs).
