When I use Emacs under Ubuntu to edit J programs (my preferred method now), every now and then the ~ key does not work. Instead of printing the ~ symbol, it prints the > symbol. As you can imagine, this is a bit annoying! The > symbol still outputs the > symbol. I have no idea what causes it, sometimes rebooting fixes it ... sometimes it does not.
Does anybody know what I can do to emacs to stop this from happening? I am using a Mac Book Pro with UK keyboard. The ~ symbol is accessed (allegedly!) by holding shift and pressing `. The ` key is next to the left-shift key. Thanks, Matthew. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
