to clarify, its not that I don't understand hooks.  Its that a fork can replace 
any hook, and if all trains were forks, then the extra step of figuring out 
what kind of train we are reading wouldn't be necessary.

For some time I didn't understand hooks.  I found it strange how much
Dan Bron used them.  It took me a few years but I think I'm finally
starting to get them.  I'm still not at the stage Dan claims he is,
not using the [ and ] verbs when he can avoid it, but I now use
monadic hooks very often, sometimes even the (u~ v) form, and
occasionally I even find a use for diadic hooks.

Please give hooks some time, and don't ask for them to be removed just
because you don't use them.  Even if you don't, there are now at least
two people who find hooks useful.
