The J community showed its muscle over "At Play With J": an effort everyone concerned can be truly proud of. If you've arrived in the community since 2009, you won't know what I'm talking about. You'll see the historical record of a polished, substantial product (which is what a book is) -- produced entirely by the J community, communicating via the forums. Labs are probably the single biggest weapon the novice user has to overcome the entry barrier to J expertise. I speak from recent experience. With just a ghost of the effort we all made back then, we could have a working set of labs running under both JHS and JGTK in a month or so.
