A quick guess is that the problem might be the use of a new window. Browser rules for cookies are complicated and it sounds like your setting of the cookie isn't recognized.
Try doing all the steps in the same tab of the same window. Try pressing go button instead of using the status link. After you get the login again with jijx i.5, try filling in that login (perhaps getting the cookie properly registered).
