I followed your advice to do everything in the same tab of the same window and
use the go button. When I got to the Invalid login(1) and filled in that, it
led to an Invalid login(2). When I filled in /that/ I got the jijx window (!)
but when I then entered i.5 a new Invalid login(1) window appeared. Go figure.
  Thanks for your attention.

By the way, it is important to me to work in a new window, not just the same
tab. I like to set up jijx and jfile windows next to each other and use
Alt+Tab
to switch between them while I work. This works fine on my local JHS, and
until
recently it worked fine on Jsoftware's JHS.
