Perhaps such could be implemented with hi availability like the Linux-HA project. The advantage of software is that one can implement heartbeats.

Possibly point to some wiki page and on that wiki others could advertise their own jum service. It has been suggested that someone should set up jum service and take fees for it and let parts of it go to ISI. -- 2011/12/7 Eric Iverson <eric.b.iver...@gmail.com> Jsoftware JUM is a very low priority item for me. It is provided only as an example of what could be done. To run a service like that with reliability requires attention. My hope is that eventually others will provide such a service in a more serious manner. Anyone who really wants a reliable JHS server should take a look at getting an Amazon cloud machine (free for the 1st year and peanuts thereafter) and running their own dedicated JHS server. -- 2011/12/7 Björn Helgason <gos...@gmail.com> It would be nice to set out the text "Jsoftware JUM is not running and will be activated again in a few days" when people try to access it or something like that when it is not available as it is announced here and there for people to try. -- 2011/12/7 Eric Iverson <eric.b.iver...@gmail.com> Jsoftware JUM is not running. I'll look at restarting it but it may be a few days before I get to it. -- On Wed, Dec 7, 2011 at 1:53 AM, greg heil <ghei...@gmail.com> wrote: http://www.jsoftware.com:50001/jum Could not be reached across two machines, two OS`s and 5 browsers... greg ~krsnadas.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
