Upon further review this is caused by parsing- clearly:
in the verbose output one sees that collection is distributed over the
implicit "AND":
collection:citeable collection:published
goes to collection:citeable collection:collection:published
and hence the problem
Quick fix is introducing an "and" between the collection clauses, longer
term this needs mixed syntax...
