Hi everybody,

I've recently started experimenting with Invenio (version 0.99.1,
running the demo site so far) and I've noticed what feels like a faulty
behavior of bibupload. It seems to choke on self-closing MARC XML tags:

<subfield code ="c"/> produces an error (no useful diagnostics
information even at verbosity level 9, though)

<subfield code ="c"></subfield> work fine

The funny thing is that the XML that bibupload could not swallow had
just been produced by bibconvert -coaimarc2marcxml.xsl from data
harvested by Invenio's own bibharvest. We have considered that maybe
running the demo site could cause problems, but the administrator of our
Invenio-based institutional archive Infoscience has verified that the
problem also occurs on our production server.

Maybe someone with a better knowledge of Invenio could look at
bibupload's innards and check how it parses XML data?

Best regards,
