Actually about a month ago I tried on CentOS6, which is binary compatible with RHEL6. As is mentioned on our wiki, for RHEL5, there are only 5 pre-requisites that are not yum-installable and that need to be compiled[1]. For CentOS6, almost everything was yum-installable, except for pdftk that needed to be taken from rpmforge. This means that one can follow the same recipe with even more ease on RHEL6.
