Hello Jerome!
If I set CFG_WEBSEARCH_INSTANT_BROWSE, I get a list of
all recent addtions to a given collection. This works
fine here. However, I do not undertand where I can adopt
it's output format. It seems that certain records get a
HB-like format applied. It also seems that this is a
static format. Probably I should recreate it? But it
can't be HB as I don't run bibreformat by default on our
test system.
In principle CFG_WEBSEARCH_INSTANT_BROWSE should have no effect
on the display of the records, but would only alter the number of
records featured in the "Latest additions" box on collection
(splash) pages
I understood that. It's just I had this box now and was
wondering how to adopt it's format template.
The records in the "Latest additions" box are displayed
using the HB format (cached, or not).
Ok. I figured that and this is where actually the magic came
in as I got "almost" HB. The "almost" stemmed from a typo I
made in HB: I missed a /, thus making a link relative
instead of absolute, resulting in a dead link on the splash
page while all was working smoothly in search results. Then
I corrected it, and ... nothing happend.
If you click on the "Search" button of the collection
splash page, you should in principle see the same
formatting of the records. If the displays are not
synchronized, it could be that the format of the records
has been updated AFTER the collection splash page was
refreshed by WebColl.
The missing link! Thanks!
Though it is formatting-related this page is actually
generated by WebColl. Now I understand it. Further magic
happening over night actually solved the issue, but without
me understanding why. But well: someone just submitted to
the collection I used to test, so webcoll had something to
do and refreshed the splash page!
You can refresh the collection splash page with the
WebColl '--force' option:
I just wasn't aware of the fact that this page is "static"
in the sense that webcoll generates it. I hold webcoll
responsive for quite some magic but it didn't cross my mind
that it's involved here.

The context in which the records are displayed might also
affect their look: records are encapsulated in different
HTML markups in search results and splash pages, maybe
with different CSS depending on some possibly fancy
Pythonic template customization/overriding. This could
explain minor variations of the display (small/bigger
fonts, etc.) Check the HTML to spot differences, if any.
There are actually some minor differences I didn't track
down yet. We can live with them (at least for the time
being, more pressing things demand attention), but I have
to admit that the HTML creation and CSS usage and sometimes
even mixing of JS + HTML + static formattings with and
within python stock functions seem to be some of the darker
parts on Invenio. Had quite a bit of fun at some points with
css for our pretty strict CD requirements.
E.g. there seems to be some very nice file upload / revise
jquery based function (some comment reads "very complex
intertwinding of <place all you can have here>" ;) which
refused all taming in our setup. Probably, if there is some
time, we could have a look at this next week at CERN. (We
set up a working simple solution postponing the nice and
fancy one for the moment.)
