I've just applied this patch but, as I feared, it doesn't change the behaviour. According to top: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 6356 mysql 20 0 761m 196m 3104 S 60 2.5 3394:48 mysqld 10251 ddd 20 0 75772 14m 1232 R 41 0.2 0:50.23 bibsched I'll try to bisect my patches to see when did I introduce this behaviour, as it seems that nobody else is experiencing it.
