Job Title: Network Engineer

Manage the networks and associated equipment
Primary Responsibilities: (70%)
· Responsible for maintaining 24/7 mission critical WAN
· Build, maintain, troubleshoot and monitor all aspects of the
application service provider network (Router, VPN, Firewalls and Load
Balancers)
· Configure and maintain routers, firewalls and Intrusion
Detection/Prevention Systems
· Review security logs and take appropriate actions
· Proactively monitor router processor and memory utilization
· Update router configurations as necessary
· Coordinate installation and upgrades of application service
provider network nodes
· Monitor all remote application service provider and disaster
recovery network nodes
· Work with Telco vendors and network providers
· Proactively monitor frame and T1 circuit uptimes and utilization
· Maintain knowledge of recent network security alerts and patches
· Maintain up to date documentation and diagrams of application
service provider network
· After hours support when necessary
· Document network build into Microsoft Visio
· Ensure handbook and configuration form data is kept up to date
· Manage private and public IP address space
· Configure and maintain VPN tunnels
Secondary Responsibilities: (30 %)
· Assist Project Managers with the implementation of new customers
and new services for existing customers
· Develop process and procedures for new technologies implemented
· Review current processes and procedures for enhancements
· Assist other teams as necessary
Qualifications/Experience:
· Minimum of 5 years telecommunications industry experience
· In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking technologies
· Extensive knowledge of Cisco’s switches, routers and load balancing
equipment configuration and monitoring
· Knowledge of BGP routing protocol
· Knowledge of router and firewall terminated VPN configuration and
monitoring
· In-depth knowledge of PIX and Check Point firewall products
· Requires strong knowledge of WAN communications hardware and
software and network management software
· Knowledge of Radware load balancing device a plus
· Enterprise data center experience preferred
· Self motivated, goal oriented and meticulous individual, who can
adhere to departmental process and procedures and able to work with minimal
supervision
· Able to multi-task and manage changing priorities to meet demands
of internal and external customers
· Demonstrate ability to contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork
through collaborative behavior and open communications
· Excellent analytical, communication (verbal and writing) skills;
process-oriented
· Knowledge of Windows and UNIX networking and configuration
· Knowledge of packet sniffers/tcpdump and ability to read
information from packet captures
· Knowledge of VMWare networking and configuration
· Knowledge of cabling standards and ability to properly manage cable
infrastructure
Work Environment:
· Willingness to work erratic and long hours when necessary to
achieve customer and company objectives
