(Antara/Widodo S. Jusuf) About 1,500 soldiers from the Pattimura Military Command (Kodam) are being deployed for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s visit to Ambon, Maluku province, next month. The President will attend the Musabaqah Tilawati Qur’an (MTQ), a Koran recital contest, during the visit.. Along with the 1500 soldiers, the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) would help secure the area, Kodam chief Col. Inf. Kus Haryono said on Thursday, as quoted by kompas.com. Haryono said the Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers have already been trained to stay with the President and to help the police during the MTQ. “The security of the President during his visit to Ambon will be under our authority,” he said.
