Ref: Hutang luarnegeri NKRI kurang lebih US$ 235 miliar.

(Antara Photo/Yudhi Mahatma) The Indonesian government announced on Thursday that it would channel up to $1 billion in loans to the International Monetary Fund, honoring an earlier declared commitment to support the institution’s funding. Indonesian Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said Indonesia, along with other nations of the G-20 economic group, had agreed last week to support the IMF during the G-20 Summit in Los Cabos, Mexico. “Indonesia will also contribute to the capital of the institution,” Agus said in Jakarta. He added that the IMF, which Indonesia is a member of, has collected some $430 billion in similar commitments. Agus said the funds would not only be channeled to ailing Europe, but also to developing countries, in anticipation of another global economic crisis. “And this is a good opportunity for Indonesia to tell [the world] of our improving condition. We got a loan from the IMF in 2006, but we’ve returned it.” Agus added that the government had yet to decide how much it would lend to the IMF, but that the amount would not exceed $1 billion. He also said the funds would not come from the state budget, but from Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves. “When we hand down the loan to the IMF, the fund will remain in Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserve balance, but it will be reported as being partly stationed at the IMF.” Investor Daily [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ Post message: [email protected] Subscribe : [email protected] Unsubscribe : [email protected] List owner : [email protected] Homepage : http://proletar.8m.com/Yahoo!
