Tunisian Former Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali’s speech in Montreal
on Saturday was disrupted by two topless women from activist group
Femen.
During an event organized by the Tunisian community in
Montreal, Jebali couldn’t continue with his speech as one Femen activist went
on stage and took off her t-shirt.
The woman, who held a banner, kept on shouting “Free Amina.”
The audience, who were already at shock, also saw another woman, taking off her
top to show solidarity to Amina Sboui.
Sboui was a Femen activist who was detained earlier this month after
protesting against the country’s main Salafist group and painting the
word “Femen” on a wall near a cemetery in the city of Kairouan.
Three European Femen activists have been arrested after baring their breasts
in Tunis and they will be tried next week for public indecency, which
carries a possible prison sentence.
