West Papua Statement To Obama
The USA and Indonesia Must be Responsible Towards Their Crimes in West Papua
The visit of United States President, Barack Hussein Obama in Indonesia must
promote the problems of West Papua. President Obama might not regard trivial
and closed the eyes towards the problem of West Papua. We the people of West
Papua believe in that all the suppressions and the exploitation on the land of
West Papua is resulted by the political aconomic compromise between United
States and Indonesia. We were sure that the United States and Indonesia were
the perpetrators of the suppression and the exploitation in West Papua,
because:
1. The USA handed over the land of West Papua to the hands of the Indonesian
colonisation
We the people West Papua witnessed an action that really violated the standards
and principles of the law and Internasional human rights in the process of the
annexation of the West Papua to the Indonesian hands, where the USA played an
important role in masterminding the agreement New York Agreement on August 15
1962 and Rome Agreement on September 30 1962 that really was not in accordance
with the international law, did not involve the person of West Papua and was
full of the interests of political economics between the United States and
Indonesia. Since the United States played a role in handing over Papua to the
Indonesian hands, then since that time until now the violation of human rights
in West Papua are happening in West Papua.
2. The United States and Indonesia stole Gold, copper, silver and uranium from
West Papua.
We believe that during 1966 a delegation from Freeport visited Jakarta in order
to holds introductory discussions for the mining right of copper/gold in West
Papua, with the Indonesian government. From results of this meeting, then on
January 10 1967 signed the Work Contract without involving the people of West
Papua as his owner. The conspiracy between the American Government and
Indonesia was finally Sacrificed the rights of the people of West Papua in the
Act Of Free Choice implementation in 1969. And since that time the US
Government and Indonesia stole Gold, copper, silver and uranium from West Papua
without any permission from the owners of West Papua people and killed the
Papua person around the Freeport area and destroyed the environment and the
ecosystem in the area of the Freeport company.
3. Co-operation Between Densus 88, the TNI and the United States
We believe that the military co-operation between Indonesia and the USA had an
impact on the torturing and the murder against the people of West Papua. We
knew that troops of Densus 88 that killed Kelly Kwalik (the struggle leader of
West Papua in Timika) not getting loose from the USA, because this special
troops are financed by the United States government through the Diplomatic
Security Service the Department of the US Country and was trained directly by
the instructor from the CIA, the FBI, and U.S. Secret Service. Most of his
teacher's staffs were former special forces's member of AS.
This troops was in cities and villages all over the territory of West Papua and
treated the people of West Papua like terrorist that must be exterminated. The
United States government and Indonesia also carried out the military
co-operation through the training of the Kopassus military and the TNI where
the TNI and Kopassus continued to carry out the violation of human rights in
Papua. They continued to torture and kill the people of West Papua. The real
example was the torturing in Puncak Jaya by the TNI recently that was printed
in the video.
4. The Suffering behind Special Autonomy
We know that at this time the United States government are supporting Indonesia
in order to carry out Special Autonomy (Otsus) for the people West Papua. But,
we state that the people of West Papua had not asked for specialautonomy. But
we only wanted to self determination as a nation. We experienced the condition
for the crisis in the Otsus period, because with Otsus our civilisation of the
people of West Papua was destroyed with all the enjoyment of appearance in
Otsus money, corruption acted, jealous, hated each other, dissension between
the ethnic group and the immigrant from outside Papua scooped up the profit
from Otsus money and the people of West Papua stayed poor and did not enjoy the
development through Otsus. This isnot our foult, but the Indonesian government
that did not have the intention that good towards the people of West Papua,
because their aim just one: destroy us the people of West Papua and controll
the territory of West Papua.
Therefore, we said that any country that are supporting special autonomy in
West Papua are the perpetrators of the suppression and the exploitation in West
Papua.
Therefore we as the people of West Papua demand the United States President,
Barack Hussein Obama to:
1. Immediately to responsible towards the political status of West Papua by
reviewing back the process of the annexation of West Papua into the state of
Indonesia.
2. Push the law process to the International courtof justice (ICJ) about the
law status West Papua inside the state of Indonesia.
3. Urge the Indonesia goverment in order to hold a mechanism of the resolution
of the political conflict of West Papua through the referendum as a peaceful
and democratic way.
4. Stop the US military and Indonesia co-operation that became the source of
the violation of human rights in West Papua.
5. Stop the US policy that supported Indonesia through the implementation of
special Autonomy for West Papua, because that is not the solution for the Papua
problem's resolution.
So that is our statement for the enforcement of human rights and Democracy that
were held in high esteem by us together.
