Pilgrims thanked all the officials that helped them various in ways, whether Kuwaiti or Saudi. This year's Hajj had more surprises in store for some pilgrims than it did for others who chose to travel with different convoys. As one pilgrim stated, "We were surprised to see that some of the convoys that were certified had more than 10 years of experience. They had nothing new to offer. In fact, they had nothing to show us. Unfortunately, this year's Hajj was highly disappointing to many due to the lack of professionalism. Pilgrims complained about the convoy that headed to Makkah, some pilgrims were dissatisfied and reached out to the media. Most of the pilgrims were discontent with fluctuating prices, "Prices kept changing by the minute within days, meaning that there is not a fixed price," Samer said. Another pilgrim also told Kuwait Times that among some of the problems they encountered was having to live in an apartment that did not maintain even the minimum standards of hygiene. Mohammed added, "the apartment size was acceptable, but some of the other facilities such as the bathroom size hindered us from performing Haj correctly. Other than inadequate accommodation facilities that failed to meet with the Ministry of Haj's requirements, other pilgrims complained about poor transportation facilities that interfered with their performance of rituals. Jassim said, "most of the drivers did not know the roads because they were not familiar with Saudi Arabia, and due to that, we always arrived three to four hours late. Mousa who decided to travel his regular Haj convoy was shocked to find out that most of the pilgrims started issuing their personal 'fatwa' owing to the lack of service support. He added, "In the past, each group has assigned a member from Al-Awqaf to handle such matters. However, this year, everybody decided to be their own policeman, an indication of bad management, Losing luggage has turned into a reality especially after people went missing for days," Salem added. It has been two days since Mousa returned to the country without any luggage, "Unfortunately, the tour agency responsible washed their hands off the matter, and now I am on a wild goose chase to find my luggage. Mnay pilgrims have also observed how potential pilgrims manipulated legal dossiers from the Ministry of Education, just to take a leave for a couple of days and travel with unauthorized tour operators.
