An online Chinese forum revealed photos of a woman roasting a puppy near a market in Guangzhou. The woman was photographed using a pair of tongs to hold the dog by the neck over an open flame. The sight attracted curious onlookers, including children. Netizens who saw the photos demanded that the woman be identified and punished, while others pointed out that such inhumane activities would not be committed so openly if there was no demand for dog meat. Dog meat is believed by some to have medicinal properties or to be able to raise men's libido.
