Attachments greatly increase the burden on the server; in the past, we saw the server go down for many hours because someone sent a moderately large attachment. In fact, don't send attachments to *anyone* without permission or invitation. In these days, what with viruses, etc., we should all know not to open attachments even from friends; after all, if the friend's system has a virus, it might be sending out mail to everyone on his address list. I open unsolicited attachments from clients sometimes, but only after making sure they are not executable *and* after they have been virus-scanned. Even then I am apprehensive. Much better to get permission first!
