my bad :-), I was thinking about the iterators based c'tor of std::string,
this is not the one you are proposing to use.
...though your idea can be extended in such a way that does demonstrate the
warning:
template< typename It >
set_xxx( It b, It e ){
xxx_->assign( b, e );
}
ps. I steel think this is a bad idea.
