Has anyone done any performance measurements for the protocol buffers, for
example over a socket?

Just curious, as the socket serialize/de-serialize implementations seem to
require a sized buffer, and a couple of wrapper classes created for every
message being sent.
I'm new to this library, so perhaps I'm not looking at this the right way?

Thanks,
Chris
