So it appears that this problem has nothing to do with source code, but
compiler versions.
I tried compiling 2.4.0, 2.4.1, 2.4.1a, and 2.5.0rc1 under VS2008, and
wildcard input path all fails.
However, if I downloaded the win32 binary version of the protobuf compiler,
they all work.
