New issue 556 by [email protected]: Unable to cross-compile for
i686-w64-mingw32 with Cygwin

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Cygwin with make, mingw64-i686-gcc-g++ and their dependencies
2. Run configure --host=i686-w64-mingw32
3. Run make
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Instead of successful compilation, I get an error.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
protobuf 2.5.0 on Cygwin
Please provide any additional information below.
