Robbie Gemmell commented on PROTON-521:
---------------------------------------
Could you elaborate on how changing the name make things easier in a particular?
The 'proton' artifact name is not currently used, but it was used previously
for the main artifact of the Java implementation (which is now going to be
called 'proton-j', and inbetween times was split between 'proton-j-impl' and
'proton-api' before being recombined recently). At a previous point, the
'proton-project' pom used to be called 'qpid-proton' but was then renamed over
a year ago for some reason.
We really need to stop renaming artifacts all the time since it is making quite
a mess in the repos and is confusing (the one and only time they have been
consistent across a release so far was for 0.6 as far as I can tell, and are
already changing for 0.7). On top of this, using the same name for two
different things (which both still exist) over time isn't particularly
friendly, I think we need a really good reason to do it.
> Replace "proton-project" with "proton" in maven related build files
