Anywhere before jcarosel is called is fine.. personaly i do it just after 
jquery is included in my page

Not sure I get it but all I did was add

$jq=jQuery.noConflict()

As the first line inside the jcarousel js file and all is good! I
guess cause it's wrapped or something?
