The basic editing functions of PT are much like, if not even better than Sound Forge. For example, you can quickly mark in and out, select by from and through times, select by length, etc. As someone who has used PT and soundforge extensively for several years, I can safely say that it would definitely fit your needs. However, if 2 track editing is all you'll ever be doing, Pro Tools is more like taking a gun to a knife fight. Hope that helps.
