I listen to a podcast by Kevin Reeves I remember him flying vocals around. I also remember him talking about beats per minute and if the time yes you can do that if the time were known and he also synced the metronome. So yes I think you can. But I'm not the one to comment as I'm not a ProTools user but I did hear that on that podcast.
