Hi, I would never go with all flash based storage as the memory cells have limits to the number of times they can be written to and once that is it the drive is dead and you might be able to recover the data off of them but that is a big might. I have never used them just upgraded the hard drive in my mac book pro to the 7200 RPM with the 4 gig cache as even the person at the Apple store and bestbuy was against me going with the SSD as they can fail. and from talking with a data recovery company the failier rate on these is higher then hard drives. Never mind the clock speeds. The newer Mac Minis outperform the 2012 models. That said, go for the I7 processor upgrade and, as was already mentioned, upgrade the RAM to the max as well as the hard drive. The Thunderbolt is important moving forward. go for SSD rather than fusion.

I have the 2014 with 16 GB RAM, 3 GHz I7 and 1 TB Flash drive. Go for the most you can afford, which is always the advice with any computer these days.

Hi, I would go with the newer version as with the faster and more modern connections you could probably get the ram upgraded when you buy the system to the maximum. Nick Gawronski

Also, if I remember correctly, the new model has two thunderbolt ports. This could be very important at some point in time.

        Hi all,
Does anyone work with ProTools on new Mac Mini latest 2014?
I’m making a decision to buy between the 2012 and 2014 model.
The main difference between dose is the CPU For the same
        price the 2012 model contains 2.3 quart core I7 Gen3 4 Gb
ram, while the 2014 model consists of 2.6 duo core I5 gen4 8
        Gb ram.
        Wich one should I choose?
        Best,
