Matt,

Have you looked at the track to see how the controller #64 data has been 
captured? I'm not sure what's been recorded/captured via MIDI but, if holding 
down the pedal yields the desired result, insert a controller #64 event On at 
the beginning of the piece and see if that duplicates the effect.
