Well, there are some sections where your vocals get too dynamic, IE, they jump out over the music in a noticeable way. What are your compression settings right now, attack, release, ratio and threshold. I may be able to make some suggestions, but I will say this, compression is kind of like the bread and butter of engineering, the first thing people who record will notice is if compression has been used in a professional way. If I go back to my recordings from years ago, or recordings put out by other local studios the first thing I notice is compression and dynamics. There are tons of YouTube videos that will try and explain it, but it is time, experimentation, our ears and listening to tons and tons of music and identifying how they use it. Also, it is good to read up on the engineers who have recorded/mixed your favorite songs and look for interviews from them and see what their philosophy about compression is.

OK, can you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by adding more compression? What settings might you tweat a bit? Is there any place where you could direct me to in the song to listen to so maybe I could hear specifically what you mean? Like can you give me a phraise reference where it sounds like the compression needs to be just a tad more? Hey Chris, this sounds like one of your better recordings. I like the levels, and the only thing I would add is some more compression to tame some of the dynamics in the vocals and a little reverb to gel things together a little more and add some depth. Overall, your coming along. I still have the session if you all think I need to improve something, but here's what I got so far. https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/f3mexq Note, this isn't the session. this is just the bounced .wav file. If you want the session though, let me know, as I've made a ton of changes from the one I sent earlier. I'll have to reupload, but if you all have a high enough demand for it, I'll see that you get it.
